Yours truly

I reckon this About Page is where I spill the beans about Lawrence S. Miller; who and what I am. Well, I will do my best and hope I don’t bore you to death in the process.

Matters of the Heart

I am a traditional Christian. Despite any rumors to the contrary, I am human and like any human I frequently fall short of living up to the high ideals of Christianity. When I fall, I get up and try again.

That in a nutshell is what Christianity is all about; falling, then getting up, and trying again.

I am married to a wonderful lady who is a marvelous cook. Her loving-kindness and artistry in the kitchen both have a lot to do with the affection and love I feel for her—and, yip, a satisfied stomach makes the heart grow fonder of the cook every time it is satisfied. She is a far better woman than I deserve.

Being a traditional Christian, I don’t believe I deserve anything good. I believe all good things come by the Grace of God, not by merit.

My Roots

I am an American through and through, born and bred. I notice, by the way, that as I grow older (and thank God I am continuing to grow older as of this writing), I am becoming more of a confirmed American redneck. You may think you know what an American redneck is, but you may well be dead wrong in your thinking. Stick around, become a part of the My Personal Insights community; you may learn something about that and a few other things.

My ancestry is Anglo-Saxon or English, if you prefer.

My Political Mindset

I am a political conservative. I have always considered myself a conservative Democrat. John F. Kennedy was the first and the last Democrat Presidential candidate I voted for. I voted for him in the first presidential election I was old enough to vote in. Later I felt betrayed by President Kennedy when he failed to support the fighting men in the so-called Bay of Pigs invasion of Castro’s Communist Cuba. Other than that I reckon he was a pretty good president. Today he would be seen as too conservative by both political parties to run as their standard bearer for president.

I believe Ronald Reagan was the last good president we have had. And with all his failings, he was a gem. All the others since, on both sides of the aisle, have been either too liberal or, and this would pertain mostly to the Republicans, they have been too biased in favor of the wealthy. Yip, unfortunately the Democrats have been sickeningly correct from the first in making that assertion.

I am My Own Man

I am my own man. I have always had somewhat of a “damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead” attitude with regard to my beliefs. And I have found that as I grow older that attitude is growing stronger. I am a fighter; not a quitter.

Some of My Beliefs

I am a strong believer in an educated electorate in a democratic representative republic such as we have. A republic cannot long survive when a large percentage of the electorate is illiterate or poorly educated and/or has not assimilated. Balkanization does not work; never has and never will.

I strongly believe in Jesus Christ and the ancient, apostolic Church that He left to be made manifest by the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost. I also strongly believe in the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed and the twelve articles of that Symbol of Faith.

Please note that the opinions and beliefs propounded on Lawrence S. Miller | My Personal Insights by me will be for edification, information, and discussion only. I invite your expansion and agreeable disagreement in comments.

Very good introduction article. No doubt as to where you stand. I’m proud to know you. If there were more like you we wouldn’t be in the mess we are in today. We need men who are willing to stand up for what they believe and let the world know. Best of luck with this site.
